"Just a decade ago, only 8 percent of American singles stated that they had ever used a dating service. Times have changed. Today's singles are taking modern, proactive steps to improve their dating lives. According to a recent study of 3,968 singles, 48 percent of men and 52 percent of women have used a dating service to increase their odds of meeting someonw special. The study was conducted by It's Just Lunch, a professional dating service [with an office in Baltimore] that studies the behaviors and attitudes of single people."

"Wizards management announced yesterday that it will host five 'Singles Nights' during the upcoming season, including gimmicks such as 'speed dating,' 'breaking the ice' and a celebrity dating game in which entrants can win a date with a Wizards player, a Wizards dance team member or a member of the Baltimore Ravens...'It's a cute idea,' said Nancy Kirsch, senior vice president of 'It's Just Lunch,' an international dating service...Kirsch said the sports-dating motif is part of a budding trend. 'I'm getting wind that it's sort of getting done a little bit,' he said. 'A little trend that's catching on. I'm in support of anything that's fun and safe.'"
